What is the capacity of the PestOff Compact?

Is the Compact still squirrel proof?
Yes. It uses the same dual squirrel-proof baffles and spring-loaded PestOff ports that close under squirrels and large birds, so only songbirds can feed.
Compact, 3.0 or Mega: which is right for me?
All three share the same squirrel-proof mechanism: choose the Compact (1.25 litres) for small spaces and balconies, the standard PestOff 3.0 (2 litres) for most gardens, or the Mega (4 litres) for busy gardens needing fewer refills.
What food does it take, and is seed included?
Choose mixed seed / sunflower hearts or peanut / mealworm / suet pellets when ordering. Seed is not included.
Can squirrels chew through it?
No. The tube is riot-grade chew-proof polycarbonate with metal baffles, so squirrels cannot gnaw in.
How do I clean it?
It comes apart tool-free for washing with warm soapy water and a bottle brush; rinse and air-dry before refilling.

Brilliant feeder.. I would definitely recommend it
Really happy with my new feeder
We were unabke to fit the anti-squirrel ring. Spent 30 mins trying and gave up in the end. It was a pointless addition.
Compact size is perfect, not quite so heavy. Not quite gale proof and sadly one of the green plasric tabs holding the lower perch assembly got broken when the feeder was blown down.
I found this feeder much better than the previous pestoff 3 I purchased,
Birds feeding straight away, this has a different feeding system to previous??
Great colour. Easy to clean. Sparrows love it and our new recent visitor, Woody Woodpecker.
Quite expensive but very robust and lasts way longer than any other feeder I've tried.

I have the original feeder, but the whilst that has been used dailynby various small birds ive noted them fly to the new one then switch to old version. I let the old version run out of seed but the new one hasnt been touched. It has had birds try but they are nit feeding from it.
I live next to woods and am plagued by squirrels. It has only been a couple of weeks of using the Roamwild feeder, however the squirrels have given up trying.
As and when I can afford it I will be replacing the rest of my six feeders!

Hi A M Edwards, we’re sorry the anti-squirrel ring was so difficult to fit and that it left you frustrated. That’s not the experience we want you to have. If it keeps popping out please try using the other side, feeding in a little at a time. It should fit snug!

My above order has just arrived minus the premium suet nuggets for which importation into Ireland are apparently
against EU regulations. I wasn’t aware of that fact but I would have expected the Roamwild company to be on top of the import/export regulations.
I am hugely disappointed and have requested that they reimburse me for the missing item.

This is not an issue that we have encountered before as the nuggets are mainly peanut butter based, and we have shipped them to customers without any problem before, so this was not something we could have anticipated. We understand they were removed during customs inspection on the way, which was a decision made at the border and outside our control. We have refunded the nuggets in full.
We take this seriously, and we are now looking into it with the relevant authorities to understand why the nuggets were removed.

i am very pleased with Roamwild bird feeder, but i like to see a version with a lighter spring to even stop the greedy starlings from eating the majority of the food, can this be done?

As Starlings are a protected UK species and in declining the numbers, the feeder will slow them down but not stop them. I've put suet pellets in this one as the other 2 have seed and sunflower hearts. Couldn't understand why they weren't eating them then found out, they are not dropping down for them. Not sure what to do. I have emptied it and then refilled it so I wait to see.

Very pleased generally with the feeder. Easy to maintain and we've enjoyed visits of many small birds.
I've taken off one star because the ports have started to malfunction - there are cracks in the plastic and sometimes they stick.
The main reason is that the magpies have found a way to circumvent the port closure deterrent. They hang on to the post but lighten their weight by madly flapping their wings. It appears to be a known problem so I would like to see the corvid covers to be added as a standard part of the equipment.

Very disappointed with my new compact feeder. Now having plastic perches, it no longer feels like the premium product of the original build. Had I known, I would never have bought it. I wonder if the larger original one has gone the same way. Even the instructions supplied are not up to date, still showing the seed shield which is no longer included. Instead it now has fixed shields which will be more fiddly to clean.
Hi Janet, thank you for sharing your feedback. Please note the compact feeder has never changed and follows much of the same design as the original PestOff feeder. The larger model you refer to is a completely different model line which is our premium 3.0 model which features the metal perches and removable seed shield. Our compact feeder has the fixed seed shield and plastic perches which is a proven design and in fact our longest serving model rest assured.
