Frequently asked questions

What food does the XL Bird Butter feeder take?

It's designed for Roamwild bird butter jars, suet balls and suet cakes. The food is not included.

How does it keep pests out?

It uses an all-metal squirrel-proof cage that gives songbird-only access, keeping squirrels, starlings and pigeons off the suet.

Does it use the spring-loaded PestOff ports?

No. Unlike the PestOff seed feeders, this is a cage-style feeder built for bird butter, suet balls and cakes.

Is it weatherproof?

Yes. A weather-smart hood and drainage keep the feed from going soggy, and the solid powder-coated steel build is winter-ready.

What size is it?

It is an XL feeder, approximately 45 × 45 cm overall.

How do I clean it?

Wipe or rinse the cage with warm soapy water and air-dry before refilling.

Nice large size and well built. Birds are really struggling to realise anything is inside and keep trying to go on the front. I've hung it next to the feeder and put a cane through it so they have a perch on the outside.

The best bird feeder we have used without doubt. In fact i would say with the design not just pleasing on the eye but how you can still adapt it by snipping a wee bar or 2 to allow slightly bigger birds like Green finch even thrush/Blackbird depending if you can keep an eye out for Starlings/Pigeons etc. Seriously i will be filling my Garden and next our 50 Acre Croft amongst our trees and already growing bird boxes. In fact i feel the design would be perfect as a bird box/Feeder to get birds used to you visiting there nesting areas. Down side on that would be other humans being able to access your land. But if like us fenced carefully with polite signs this would work well. Anyway we canni wait to order our next batch of 5 at least and i will attempt to adapt it to a nesting box as well. Flodabay Farm Isle of Harris Scotland. flodabayfarm.co.uk We have a Luxury Chalet were guests view all the birds such as Sea Eagles/Golden Eagles/Hobby/Merlin/Sparrow Hawk/Buzzards/Finches galore of every species/ And they all get on reasonably well. Hope to see you all soon !

Great product which attracts so many birds. What a shame that they ship it using inappropriate packaging. I shall not be buying anything else until I'm convinced that this problem has been fixed.

Well built and designed bird feeder. Easy to install and came with instructions on how to install and clean.
Versatile with what food you can place in it and easy to refill and clean. The birds were on it within minutes.
My only criticism would be it’s quite heavy and it arrived just packaged in a cardboard box with no packing around it. Mine arrived with a damaged box and the feeder was slightly bent probably through mishandling by the delivery company. This was an easy fix but maybe needs a little more packaging around the feeder.
Overall a well built feeder which I can see lasting a long while and I would recommend.
