Product Description

The Roamwild PestOff 3.0 is a squirrel-proof and corvid-proof bird feeder that holds 2 litres of seed. Patented spring-loaded ports close automatically under the weight of squirrels, rats and corvids — including magpies, crows and jackdaws — so only small garden birds can feed. Large birds that cannot work the ports bash and shake the feeder to spill seed onto the ground and feed on it there; the PestOff 3.0's unique internal seed shield holds the seed inside, so there is no spill to feed on and nothing left to attract rats or vermin.

  • Patented PestOff™ technology Spring-loaded ports close automatically under squirrels, rats and corvids — no settings, no adjustments.
  • Complete squirrel protection Dual all-metal baffles and an anti-cling ring defeat squirrels from every angle, and a chew-proof, riot-shield-grade polycarbonate tube means no squirrel has ever broken through.
  • Corvids can't feed either Magpies, crows and jackdaws are too heavy for the ports, and the included corvid covers stop the most persistent magpies and parakeets reaching in. When they fall back on bashing the feeder to shake seed loose, the PestOff 3.0's unique internal seed shield stops the spill, so nothing reaches the ground for them.
  • No seed spills, no mess The PestOff 3.0's unique internal seed shield keeps seed inside the feeder, so nothing scatters on the ground to attract rats, mice or other vermin.
  • Redesigned stainless steel perches A comfortable grip for small birds means more visitors and longer stays.
  • All-weather protection Integrated rain guards keep seed dry in any conditions.
  • 2 litre capacity Fill once, watch for days. Measures 19 × 19 × 54 cm and weighs 0.7 kg.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Roamwild PestOff 3.0 really squirrel proof?

Yes. The PestOff 3.0 uses dual all-metal baffles, an anti-cling ring and patented spring-loaded ports that close automatically under a squirrel's weight, so squirrels are blocked from every angle and only small garden birds can feed.

Does it stop starlings and pigeons?

Pigeons, yes — starlings, partly, and it is worth being straight about the difference. Pigeons and other heavier birds trigger the patented weight-activated ports, which close the food off. Starlings are much lighter, so the ports alone will not shut a flock out. What the 3.0's defences do is slow starlings down and, in plenty of gardens, stop them feeding altogether: the weight-activated ports and sprung perches make a starling work for every mouthful, and the included corvid covers block the persistent ones that try to reach in from above. We’ve also watched what large birds do next — bashing and shaking a feeder so seed spills onto the ground — so the PestOff 3.0's unique internal seed shield is built to stop seed ejecting, answering every tactic they try. If you want starlings kept off the feeder entirely, add the PestOff Starling Proof Cage Accessory: a physical barrier that only small songbirds can pass through.

Does it stop rats and large birds like magpies and parakeets too?

Yes. The same spring-loaded ports close under rats and corvids, included corvid covers stop persistent magpies and parakeets, and the PestOff 3.0's unique internal seed shield prevents the spills that attract rats in the first place.

I have parakeets in my area — will it cope?

It’s built for exactly that challenge. Parakeets are clever and persistent, but the weight-activated ports close under the heavier raiders, the anti-cling ring stops them getting a grip, and the included corvid covers stop persistent parakeets reaching the feeding ports. For urban gardens under serious parakeet pressure, the Starling Proof Cage Accessory adds a physical barrier as a belt-and-braces option.

Will seed end up all over my lawn or patio?

No — this is one of the 3.0’s headline features. The PestOff 3.0's unique internal seed shield catches every seed and is engineered to stop seed spilling, so food stays in the feeder for the birds rather than on the ground. It keeps your patio tidy and your seed lasting longer. If you’d like a completely spotless area under the feeder, the PestOff seed catcher accessory clips underneath.

Will small garden birds actually use it?

Yes. The ports stay open for lightweight songbirds such as tits, finches, robins and sparrows, and the redesigned stainless steel perches give them a comfortable grip for longer visits. Only heavier animals trigger the ports to close.

Which PestOff feeder should I choose — Compact, 3.0 or Mega?

All three share the same squirrel-proof mechanism: the Compact holds 1.25 litres for balconies and small spaces, the standard PestOff 3.0 holds 2 litres for most gardens, and the Mega holds 4 litres for busy gardens that need fewer refills.

What’s the difference between the PestOff 2.0 and the 3.0?

The 3.0 is the latest generation of the PestOff and our most advanced feeder yet. It’s the full-featured flagship of the range: the PestOff 3.0's unique internal seed shield, engineered to stop seed spilling, included corvid covers, the anti-cling ring, and redesigned stainless steel perches that give small birds a comfortable grip. If you already own an earlier PestOff and love it, the 3.0 is the one to upgrade to for the complete feature set.

How much seed does the PestOff 3.0 hold?

It holds 2 litres of seed — enough to fill once and watch the birds for days. The feeder measures 19 × 19 × 54 cm and weighs 0.7 kg.

What food does it take, and is seed included?

This version takes mixed seed and sunflower hearts, and seed is not included. Roamwild makes matching PestOff feeders for peanuts/mealworms/suet pellets, nyjer/thistle seed, and suet nuggets.

Where should I hang it for best results?

Hang the PestOff 3.0 at least 45 cm (18 inches) from walls, fences and branches that squirrels could leap from, for the best squirrel-proof performance.

How quickly will it arrive?

We aim to dispatch all orders within 48 hours (Monday to Friday), and standard UK delivery typically arrives within 2–3 working days. In a hurry? Express next working day delivery is available for UK mainland. You’ll get a confirmation email with tracking as soon as your order is on its way.

Does it need assembling?

There’s no complicated assembly — the PestOff 3.0 comes apart and clicks back together without any tools (that’s also what makes it so easy to clean and refill). Hang it at least 45 cm from walls, fences and branches, fill it with mixed seed or sunflower hearts, and you’re done.

What if it doesn’t work out in my garden?

You’re covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee. If it’s not right for your space, return any unused item within 30 days for a full refund — just email us with your order number and we’ll send you return instructions. Refunds are processed to your original payment method within 10–15 days of us receiving the return.

Can I get replacement parts if I ever need them?

Yes — the PestOff 3.0 comes apart without tools, so individual parts can be replaced rather than the whole feeder. If you ever need a part, contact our UK-based support team through the website with your order number and we’ll get you sorted. It’s a feeder designed to be kept for years, not thrown away.

Is it built to live outside all year?

Yes — it’s designed for year-round outdoor life. The tube is chew-proof, riot-shield-grade polycarbonate and the baffles are all metal, so it stands up to weather as well as wildlife. A regular clean with warm soapy water and a bottle brush keeps it looking good and hygienic for the birds.

Can squirrels chew through it?

No. The tube is chew-proof riot-shield-grade polycarbonate and the baffles are all metal, so squirrels cannot gnaw their way in.

How do I clean and mount it?

It comes apart with no tools for cleaning with warm soapy water and a bottle brush, then rinse and air-dry. It fits PestOff pole, wall, deck and window mounting brackets and the PestOff seed catcher.

How long until birds start using the PestOff 3.0?

The Roamwild PestOff 3.0 usually gets busy within a couple of weeks. Garden birds are cautious of anything new, so it's normal for a new feeder to stay quiet for a few days while they learn it's a safe, reliable food source — then it clicks, and you'll have tits, finches, sparrows and robins coming back day after day. To speed things up, hang it near cover or a spot the birds already visit, keep it topped up, and scatter a few seeds on the perches for the first week. The squirrel-proofing works from day one.

well made feeder with a few new improvements compared with previous purchases. Speedy delivery good communications.

I LOVE my Roamwild 3 bird feeder and had it filled and hung up within 10 minutes of it arriving!

( Just a helpful hint for your packing dept though. Make sure the ends of the box are really securely fastened with strong tape as the box had come unfastened during delivery but thankfully the inner contents were in tact.)

Unlike my other feeder ( version 2,) that I purchased from you, this new version had the “ Corvid Covers.”

I have never before had any trouble with larger birds and the smaller birds can eat in peace, BUT for some unknown reason we have suddenly had an influx of tenacious and very agile magpies who spent ALL DAY emptying my unprotected feeder!

I enjoyed watching them and was astounded by their efforts and abilities!

I thought our squirrels were ingenious but the magpies gave them a run for their money.

I have the feeders hanging from a metal pole “ feeding station” and they used the pole to cling on to ( almost upside down) while they reached for the seed with their beaks.

I want the feeders for all the smaller birds as I feed the larger birds regularly from a wall top.

( The saying is appropriate that they “ see me coming” as they start calling to each other as soon as I approach the wall!!)

SO…… my husband has been commissioned to make a new weatherproof pole that will have a much wider “ T shaped top” with plenty of height so the feeders can hang down out of their reach!!

( It’s his birthday gift to me. I’m a “ low maintenance” practical woman, who loves things home made, so it will be a perfect gift.)

The new feeder is less accessible to magpies having the covers but I wondered if it’s possible to fit something onto my “ style 2” feeder to stop that being attacked until I get my new pole. Any ideas?

(If not, my long suffering and very resourceful hubby will have to try and invent something!!)

Thankyou for the wonderful hours of pleasure I have had by using your lovely bird feeders that AT LAST the squirrels can’t raid!

( I have tried so many others in the past, that just weren’t effective. We have generations of squirrels on our land, but there is enough natural food for them, so I don’t want them raiding my feeders!)

I will never buy any feeders now that aren’t from Roam Wild, and have recommended your product to all my friends.

Our garden is a haven for all wildlife but I am so very aware of how some of the smaller birds can suffer with lack of resources or from zoonotic diseases from contracted from other birds and other species.

On that note, I would also like to thank you for making your feeders so very easy to strip down and sterilize…. It’s my regular Sunday afternoon job!

A very well deserved 5 stars for your excellent designers.
Kind regards,
Mrs Christine Scholes.

The peanut dispenser -even when the peanuts are cut up - does not allow the birds to eat from it. I then bought some sunflower hearts and these have the same problem. They just aren't available for the birds.

The new feeder for the Goldfinches is now in use ! I have kept the old Nyger feeder alongside at present until they are quite used to the new one
The peanut feeder I have yet to set up as only just got a supply of peanuts
The window feeder which has been in use for months now is very popular with bluetits .I usually have to refill it daily! However I recently filled it with Calciworms instead of Mealyworms which they won’t touch Why is that?!

Right so I was very skeptical given the issue I had with magpies. I actually bought the squirrel buster from Living With Birds before this and unfortunately the magpies got to it no bother.

With this however, they haven't even bothered trying as I don't think they physically can. Instead, the tits and specifically my robin friend love it especially with sunflower hearts. It took them some time to use it and we're quite reluctant especially as I also have fat balls available. I also have a great spotted woodpecker who is able to use it as well without triggering the weight on the feeder.

It really is great, the only negative I have is it is very large meaning it does stretch down past my plastic dome on the feeder to block squirrels. The squirrel hasn't yet tried jumping on the feeder but I'm confident it will fail miserably and when it does. I'd have preferred a smaller sized option but honestly I can make it work and get a taller feeder stand.

Highlight recommend for small birds!

Hopefully the magpies won't get too smart. But to nite there is the corvid blocker that comes with it so would be interesting how that works if needed but I'd be reluctant to using that as well as I want easy access to my small birds.

Great quality, but oh I wish the birds would visit it! May be its early days, but I've followed your advice but still no birds. I'm using the same food my daughter uses in a nearby village so I hope it's not that.
The COVID covers are a great idea but although they are clicked in place, the holes seem very high up in the port. I've removed them.

This is a great looking feeder! Strong, and I love the roof tops to keep the feeder dry. This is my first time feeding the birds so they are yet to find their food.

I now have 5 of the feeders, the birds are almost queuing up for their turn, I have different feeders and have Tits, finches, sparrows, robins all using them. The larger birds give them a go but with the perches closing the feed area up and little spilling on the floor they leave them alone now and use other feeders I have for them and this is very rewarding to see.

We’ve had this model for around 3 months and I’ve never seen a small bird feed from it. We’ve tried it in 2 different places.
Could it be the seed we are using which is just the generic bird seen you buy.

Hi there, we're sorry to hear you're having trouble attracting birds. Birds are creatures of habit so we advise customers to keep one of their old feeders in place as part of our set up guide. Sometimes placement and local bird activity can affect visits. The birds take a little time to discover new feeders.

Do you have other busy feeders in your garden?

Please follow steps below - It can take some time for the little birds to build confidence with a new feeder:

Hang both your old feeder and new PestOff feeder next to each other - 1 foot apart.

Fill both feeders with 100% sunflower hearts, the little birds go crazy for these.

Let the old feeder run out (do not refill) and then hopefully the little birds will simply hop onto your new PestOff bird feeder.

Arrived well packaged. Assembly for the PestOff bird feeder and starling proof cage was easy with clear instructions.
Also got the Bird butter feeder which was easy to fit, was surprised at the size but not disappointed.
All the items were of good quality, will have to see how they stand up to the winter months otherwise so far pleased with the purchase.

I have a few different feeders from roamwild and they have been great. Always had the blue tits and great tits and other birds but for the first time living here for just over ten year's I had two goldfinches on my feeder and I was over the moon.

We've got two of these - sunflower hearts, and nyjer seeds versions - and highly recommend both, build quality and functionality is exceptional. Both feeders were adopted almost immediately by tits & finches, with the occasional spotted wood pecker, and nuthatch, while pigeons and doves keep the lawn below clear. It's reassuring to watch the crows, parakeets and squirrels raids thwarted.

The feeder is very nicely made but sadly the birds don't like the pestoff plastic guard and won't use it, I removed the guard and they were on it straight away, now all the feed falls on the floor and the pigeons eat it just like my previous feeder.
